Logo webtrees
Guidelines for using and adapting the webtrees logo
To preserve the integrity and consistency of the webtrees product name please follow the following guidelines wherever you use it:
- By all means alter the base colour of the logo to suit your presentation, but PLEASE do keep a reference to the product, using the style guides described here, prominently displayed on your site.
- The term 'webtrees' is a product name and logo, not a 'word' in the grammatical sense. It should always be written in entirely lower-case (always 'webtrees', never 'Webtrees', 'webTrees' etc). This applies even where it appears at the start of a sentence.
- Because a lowercase word at the start of a sentence can look "odd", we recommend the term is always in bold lettering. ("webtrees")
- Where necessary the shortest form of webtrees is simply a lower-case "w". This would normally be used, for example, as a 'favicon'.
- The standard format of the logo ("webtrees" or "w") is:
- Font: "Anja Eliane"
- Base color: #2694e8
- Border 1px black
- Texture: smooth inner bevel, with highlights from left(270°), at a 35° elevation using color #c8bebf
- Drop shadow, gray, positioned down and to the right.
It is not essential to retain the exact color at all times, as we realise that for different themes the color may not look as attractive. But, wherever possible the general design should be retained. Some alternatives can be seen in standard webtrees themes like "colors". In some themes (e.g. "FAB" and "minimal") where graphics are not widely used a simple text representation is also acceptable.
Below are some examples that can be downloaded for use, including a Photoshop .psd file with the three layers available for editing.

webtrees is an open source program, and as such, is regulated by certain terms and conditions. You may prefer to develop a custom theme and remove the reference, but consider that, if you like the product well enough to use it, and you paid nothing for the rights to do and, and you have no costs for support, then why not assist the developers and proudly evangelize the program by retaining both visual references and links to key URLs? We appreciate it.
